Lake City is in Colorado’s beautiful and rugged San Juan Mountains. Lake San Cristobal is over 340 acres in size, ranking as the second-largest natural lake in the state of Colorado. Abundant and large trout, making it an ideal place for either boat or shore fishing. Paved and gravel roads encircle the entire lake, making an excellent scenic drive or bicycle ride. Silver Thread National Scenic Byway connects the Curecanti National Recreation Area with the towns of Lake City, Creede, and South Fork. This paved route is scenic, open year round, and full of historic and recreation highlights. North Clear Creek Canyon is a waterfall that you really can't see from the highway. It appears flush with the ground. The area is located a few miles from Lake City, CO.
